Toyota Hilux Oil Change Guide and Service Record at 380145 km

Toyota Hilux Oil Change Log – Personal Service Record

A Running Record for Future Reference

This post is a personal reference log for my Toyota Hilux service history. If you stumbled across it, welcome — but the main audience here is future me, needing a quick reminder of where the service schedule stands and what product is going into the engine.

Current Odometer and Next Service Interval

  • Current odometer reading: 380,145 km
  • Next engine oil change due at: 385,145 km
  • Service interval: 5,000 km

The truck has been on a consistent 5,000 km oil change schedule throughout its life, and that routine is not changing anytime soon. When something works, you stick with it.

Engine Oil Used

Idemitsu Diesel CH-4/SJ 15W-50 Semi-Synthetic

This grade has been the go-to lubricant for this vehicle for a good while now. The 15W-50 viscosity suits the engine well, especially given the kind of driving this truck has seen — including loaded mountain runs on gravel roads using low range four-wheel drive.

The CH-4/SJ rating means it meets both diesel and petrol engine standards, making it a solid all-around choice for a workhorse like the Hilux.

How Old Is the Vehicle and What Is Its Condition?

The Toyota Hilux is more than 13 years old and has covered just over 380,000 kilometres. Despite that, the engine runs as good as new.

That is not a boast — it is the honest result of:

  • Never missing a service — oil changes have always been done on schedule
  • Single driver throughout the vehicle’s entire life — consistent driving habits make a real difference
  • Using the correct lubricant grade every single time
  • Not cutting corners when the vehicle signals it needs attention

This truck has climbed mountain passes multiple times on large gravel roads using low range, carrying load, working hard. And it keeps going without complaint.

Major Replacements and Repairs So Far

Here is the honest list of significant component replacements to date:

  • Air conditioning compressor pulley — replaced on 31 March 2026

That is essentially it for major work. No engine overhaul, no gearbox rebuild, no major drivetrain replacements. The aircon compressor pulley is the standout repair worth noting, and even that is a relatively minor component in the grand scheme of things for a vehicle at this mileage.

Everything else has been routine consumables — filters, belts at their scheduled intervals, tyres, brakes. Nothing unexpected.

Why Consistent Servicing Makes All the Difference

It Is Not Complicated

A lot of high-mileage vehicle success stories come down to one thing: doing the basics, consistently. There is no secret formula here.

Fresh oil at regular intervals keeps internal engine components clean and properly lubricated. Old, degraded oil stops protecting as well as it should. Over 380,000 km, those small differences compound into either a healthy engine or an expensive problem.

This Hilux Proves the Point

Thirteen years. 380,000-plus kilometres. Mountain runs in low range. Gravel roads. Heat and load. And the engine still runs cleanly.

That is not luck. That is the result of every scheduled service being completed on time, with the right product going in each time.

Next Steps

The next oil change is due at 385,145 km. Same product — Idemitsu Diesel CH-4/SJ 15W-50 Semi-Synthetic. Same process. Same standard.

When that service is done, this log will be updated with the new reading and any notes worth recording.

This post is a personal vehicle service reference. Details logged here are for tracking purposes and future recall.
